TROY ADDS NEW TITLE TO RECORD
Troy Millward carried out a masterful display of pool to win the 2011 Sheppey Open pool championship at Layzells Tavern Club at the weekend.
A top quality field of 42 players entered, but it was Millward who won through a difficult draw to beat non Island player Steve Mullins 6-2 in a one sided final. On his route to the final the defeated he current 'Captains' and 'Double' Champion Charlie Minta, last years winner Chris White, Sittingbournes Wayne Edwards and the Flying Dutchmans Craig Reeves in the early stages.
In the bottom half of the draw, Mullins defeated Steve Bird 4-1, Ade Horn 5-3, Paul Rogers 5-3 to set up a semi-final with Sheppey legend Tony Gray. A close match ended with a, but Mullins managed to be the victor to book his place in the final.
Thanks to some quality pool on the day, it was Troy Millward that took the title, trophy and £300 first prize.
There was a Break and Dish prize and this was shared between the finalists with 2 each.
In the Plate the final was between Dave Goldsmith and Dean Ralph with dave taking the £85 prize fund.
